Collaborative and Contemplative Counseling for Couples and Individuals

"I see individuals of all ages and have services in marriage counseling. What I enjoy most about my work is supporting people to grow in self-awareness, insight and inner strength. I also value the authentic presence of connecting with people on a genuine level.”

SERVICES:

Individual Counseling

In this personal and private interaction between counselor and client, we work together on a problem or topic of interest. A one-on-one meeting with a counselor provides maximum privacy in which to explore feelings and behaviors. We establish trust and build a helping relationship.

Marriage and Couples Counseling With a growth-centered and problem-solving emphasis, couples can benefit by learning new skills and sharing in a safe environment. Couples focus on working as a team to be allied on their path.

Group Counseling

Through the format of discussion and group exercises opportunity is created to learn from each other. Members share ideas, give and receive feedback, increase awareness, gain new knowledge, practice skills and think about their goals and actions. Group themes include: Parenting Class, Couples Groups, Support Groups Groups, etc.

THERAPEUTIC APPROACHES:

Collaborative Counseling Approach:

Because people change, grow and find solutions in different ways, I adapt my approach to fit your needs. This means that I am not the expert about you. Together we share resources to identify and accomplish your goals. We explore what works best for you. I support you and hold a vision for what you want. I use my skills and training to collaborate with you as a team player and build upon your strengths.

Contemplative Counseling Approach:

Using mindfulness and meditation-based techniques, I may guide you into a calmer, slower, state of mind/body in which you can quiet yourself to another level and find insight through deep listening and self-observation. Slowing down instant reactions and tapping emotional and bodily sensations may be used as healing tools.

Referral Marital Therapists and Counselors

If you are seeking marriage Counseling outside of my area, please go to Good Therapy.org. or Emotionally-Focused Therapy for great resources on couples therapy as well as research findings and a directory of EFT trained therapists. You can also go to the Hakomi Institute and click on the "directory of practitioners". The state of Colorado requires a therapist and client to have at least one face-to-face session before doing distance (phone or internet) counseling. This said, I am not available for online marriage counseling without an in-person session first. For other states and online counseling see asktheinternettherapist.com.
